♢ PROTECTION

Cedar Sage (Salvia roemeriana) is first and foremost a medicine of protection. It is the fastest and most effective herb for removing negative energy in your home. The smoke of burning Cedar works both as a purifier and as a way to attract good energy in your direction. It the perfect go-to smudge to cleanse a home when first moving in, a second-hand item or when you feel a fog of negativity over you - inviting unwanted spirits to leave and protecting a person, place or object from undesirable influences. Cedar trees are very old, wise and powerful spirits and have been revered for their spiritual significance for thousands of years. Its wood was used for the doors of sacred temples and burned in cleansing ceremonies for purification. The indigenous believed the cedar tree housed important gods and was an entrance to higher spiritual realms.

The ancient art of smudging, traditionally used by the Native Americans, attracts positive energies and influence by creating balance and connection, driving away unwanted negative energies from a person, space or object. Sage emits negative ions and our aura holds positive ions. Through the smudging process we can neutralise our aura or the energy of spaces and objects to cleanse and renew them, creating a sacred space.

Protect your body and your space with this powerfully purifying ritual, bringing new blessings into your space while the frenetic vibrations around you cease and clarity is restored.

🜃 Ethically & Sustainably Sourced:

At Artemis & Ivy, we are passionate about sourcing products that exist in the same condition they would have in ancient times: natural, sustainable and untainted. Our premium white sage is ethically and sustainably sourced from its natural habitat in the rugged mountains regions around California, where wildlife roams free and natural quartz and gold deposits lie hidden among the land. An undying enthusiasm for quality shines through every sage bundle, which is hand-picked from choice specimens and delicately hand-tied with natural cotton rope. The sage is never wild harvested or over harvested and is always fresh and bundled with more leaves and fewer stems for a more powerful effect. Your purchase supports well over 100 hardworking and knowledgable local families that collect and process this sage and who believe that the ancient tradition of smudging should be respected and passed on around the world for generations to come.

🜃 How To Use:

Simply light the end of the sage until it starts to produce smoke. Keep a fire-safe bowl, such as ceramic, beneath the burning sage whilst you use it, as the ashes will fall sporadically. Follow the instructions below for the purpose that you are using the sage. Keep in mind that the smudge stick may burn out easily, so you may need to re-light it as you go. Once you have finished, you can extinguish the embers in sand (we recommend filling the fire-safe bowl with sand for this purpose) or you can leave the smudge stick in the bowl and allow it to go out naturally.

🜃 How to Cleanse Yourself and Others:

You can then use the smoke to cleanse yourself or the aura of a person by holding it close to and around the body, allowing the smoke to surround. Another great technique is to move the sage stick in an outwards motion from the body, to draw the energies out and away. Be sure to include the palms of hands, the chakra, the back, legs, and soles of feet as well, as they are all places that store energy that may be stagnant or need clearing. The most important part of the ritual is your intention - Hold the intention that you are purifying the person of any negative energies or emotions that don't serve them or aren't of the highest good. Remember to thank the sage for helping to cleanse and purify, and send it your love and appreciation.

🜃 How to Cleanse a Room:

When smudging/cleansing a room, simply walk around the room allowing the smoke to flow. You can move the sage stick in clockwise circular motions or you can even do the cross symbol - whatever holds a pure meaning to you. The most important part of the ritual is your intention - Hold the intention that you are purifying the room of any negative energies or spirits that aren't of the highest good. Remember to thank the sage for helping to cleanse and purify, and send it your love and appreciation.
